Kind strangers during RCY camp in Germany

When I was 17, I represented Convent Kajang (my school) and also Malaysia to go to a Red Cross/ Red Crescent Camp which was held in Xanten, Germany. I went there with other students who came from other schools. I was the only one from my school. During the flight to Germany, most of our group were placed closed to each other. But I was placed in a seat quite far from my pals. But I was calm as I was seated next to this beautiful and kind woman who became my friend. She was in her early twenty. We chatted about many things. I was really grateful and happy. Before parted, we managed to snap a picture together.

Quand j’avais 17 ans, je représentais mon école (SMK Convent Kajang) et aussi la Malaisie d’aller en Allemagne pour un camp de Croissant Rouge. J’y suis allée avec des étudiants qui venaient d’autres écoles. J’étais la seule qui venait de Convent. Pendant la journée à Xanten, plupart d’entre nous ont été placés près de l’autre. Mais, j’ai eu la chance d’avoir un siège qui était assez loin. Heureusement, la femme qui était assis à côté de moi était gentille. On a parlé de pleins de choses. J’étais très heureuse. Avant de quitter l’avion, on a pris une photo ensemble.

After the camp, we were touring around germany for a few days. During a bas trip around Xanten city, I sat beside an old friendly man. I chatted with him. (Sorry, didn't managed to take a photo of him). He said that he was with his wife but she chose the last row of the seats. (We were in the middle). Even though he could not talk in english that well, we used hand gesture well in explaining things to each other. In the end of the trip, he handed me 10 euros. I was shocked. I said thanks and greeted his wife. 

Après le camp, mes copains et moi, on a fait un petit tour autour de l’Allemagne. Pendant un voyage en bus autour de la ville de Xanten, je me suis assis à côté d’un vieil homme. Comme d’habitude, j’ai commencé de communiquer avec lui. Il m’a dit que sa femme avait choisi de s’asseoir loin de lui. Même si il ne pouvait pas dire des mots anglais bien, on a utilisé la geste de la main. À la fin du voyage, il m’a donné 10 euros. J’étais choquée. Je lui ai dit merci et aussi et j’ai dit bonjour à sa femme.

My family and I went to China for a week from 22 to 28 december. We went to the Beijing Snow World Ski Resort. Skiing was really fun. It is easier than ice-skating. I've managed to fall for three times out of my two times skiing down from the top. So basically, you need to wear extra thick clothings but you won't feel cold when you started skiing. For those of you who would like to come to this Ski Resort, you'll need to keep in mind that there will be a lot of "ski-teachers" who will asked you "Do you want me to teach you to ski?". My advice, DON'T. They will charge you dearly. One hour of learning is 200 RMB which is about RM121.20. My guide also told me that sometimes they will trick you to use the escalator to go up the hill and when you can't get down, they will force you to pay to teach you to get down. Trust me, just be confidence. It's okay to fall because when you fall, you'll learn better.

On a fait des vacances en Chine pour une semaine du 22 jusqu’à 28 décembre. On est allé à une station de ski de Pékin. Je préfère faire du ski plutôt que faire du patinage. C’était plus formidable. En fait, vous devez porter des vêtements épais mais après vous ne serez pas sentir la froid quand vous skiez. Si vous voulez faire du ski là, il est vraiment important que vous savez qu’il y aura pleins de « professeurs du ski » qui vous demanderont si vous voulez apprendre comment skier. Mon conseil, dites-vous NON. Le prix d’apprentissage est tellement cher. Une heure de leçon vous en coûtera 200 RMB (RM121.20). Mon guide touristique m’avait dit que parfois, ils vont vous demander de prendre l’escalator pour monter la colline et quand vous avez de la difficulté de descendez, il faut que vous les payiez. N’ayez pas peur mes amis. Quand vous faites des erreurs, vous apprenez mieux.
